Hawijch Elders (1998) is an upcoming Dutch violinist.
Most recently, Hawijch received the First Prize at the Leonid Kogan International Competition for Young Violinists 2021. Other accomplishments include the Second Prize and special prizes at the 2021 Odessa International Violin Competition. She is a laureate of the Dutch Classical Talent season 2021/2022. Previously, she received prizes at the 37th ‘Premio Rodolfo Lipizer’ International Violin Competition 2018, Dutch National Violin Competition ‘Oskar Back’ 2018, and she is a laureate of the 3rd Oleh Krysa International Violin Competition 2019. The Kersjes Foundation awarded her the “Kersjes Vioolbeurs 2019” at the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
Hawijch Elders studies with Ilya Grubert at the Conservatory of Amsterdam since 2016, previously with Benzion Shamir. Hawijch participated in masterclasses with Ivry Gitlis, Shlomo Mintz, Pierre Amoyal. She performed as soloist with, amongst others, The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orquestra Clássica da Madeira, Residentie Orchestra The Hague. She has worked in chamber music concerts with amongst others Valeriy Sokolov, Quirine Viersen and Maria Milstein.
Hawijch plays a violin by Gennaro Gagliano and a bow by Jean Pierre Marie Persoit, on loan from the Dutch Musical Instruments Foundation. The violin is part of the ‘collection Willem G. Vogelaar’.
