PRETTY YENDE,

Born in South Africa, Pretty Yende reached the top of her opera career with extraordinary speed, and quickly became one of the brightest stars in world of music. After her debut at the Latvian National Theater in Riga as Micaëla in Carmen, she performed in all major international theaters, including Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Opéra National de Paris, Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, La Scala, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Berlin, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, Opernhaus Zürich and Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, as well as, more recently, at the Wiener Staatsoper. In the 2020-2021 season she successfully debuted in Vienna as Adina in “L’Elisir d’Amore” and played Violetta in “La Traviata” staged by Simon Stone. She has reprised the role of Violetta numerous times, at the Bayerische Staatsoper, at the Liceu in Barcelona under the direction of David McVicar, at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and Staatsoper Hamburg. Recent successes include her Metropolitan debut as Countess Adèle in “Le Comte Ory”, Maria in “La Fille du Régiment” at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville; her debut at the Opéra National de Paris as Rosina “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, Norina in “Don Pasquale” in Barcelona, Micaëla in “Carmen” at the Los Angeles Opera, Fiorilla in “Turco in Italia” at the Staatsoper in Hamburg. She was also Rosina, Adina, Lucia, Juliette, Elvira and Pamina at the Met; Adina at the Royal Opera House; Lucia at the Opéra National de Paris and at the Deutsche Oper Berlin; Adina at the Staatsoper Berlin; Pamina at the Grand Théâtre de Genève; Elvira at the Opernhaus Zürich; Susanna at the Los Angeles Opera; Countess Adèle and Musetta at the “La Scala” and Teresa in “Benvenuto Cellini” by Berlioz in Paris.
Highlights on the concert stage include her Carnegie Hall recital, concerts in Switzerland, Spain, Austria, South Africa, Germany, Italy, France, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and USA.
